Coconut Oil for Healthy Pets

Posted by Coconut Magic on .

Including coconut oil in your pets diet is a great way to improve their health, soften their coats and boost their nutrient intake.

You've heard now of the many different ways to use coconut oil, one I haven't talked much about as yet is how good it is for your animals.

My German Shepherd "Mocha" at age 11 yrs is still going strong, some say she looks about five. She is active, playful and shows lots of vitality. For the past four years I have been feeding her coconut oil everyday. Some days she eats it straight from my hand, other days I mix it in her evening meal. Virtually every health benefit associated with coconut oil for humans is applicable also to animals.

Coconut oil can help pets digestion, improve their coats and builds immune function. Shepherds can be prone to poor digestion, hip and joint problems. Especially in their mature years. Since discovering coconut oil I make sure Mocha gets her daily dose as diligently as I get my own.

Coconut oil has been shown to benefit all types of animals, dogs, cats, horses, cows and other farm animals. Some of the benefits owners have reported include:

  • healthier skin and elimination of rashes
  • relief from arthritic symptoms
  • cleared up infections
  • healing of digestive issues
  • expulsion of worms
  • improved energy and vitality
  • coats becoming healthy and shiny.

Applied topically coconut oil helps with cuts, bites, stings and infections. Some people have even reported healing of serious ailments such as cancer and diabetes.

If your pet has never eaten coconut oil before then start slow, perhaps half a teaspoon for every five kilos. If your pet is not used to eating fat it can cause loose stools, if its all ok after a few days gradually increase. The daily dose for pets is about one teaspoon per five kilo. Puppies can start taking coconut oil in their food from as soon as they start feeding. I feed Mocha (my big girl) two tablespoons per day.

Including other coconut products in your pets diet will also be beneficial. Shredded coconut and fresh coconut meat is a good source of fibre.

Pets, like their owners can suffer from many health ailments. Coconut oil offers a safe, simple and inexpensive remedy. Make sure to use a pure unrefined coconut oil, like Coconut Magic for your pets.

Try it… they'll love it!

Jenni started Coconut Magic when she returned from living in Thailand in 2011.Whilst abroad, Jenni had discovered the most amazing quality of coconut oil and experienced her own health transformation. Jenni returned with very little other than her coconut oil discovery and a desire to share it with the world. Just a few months after her return coconut oil and a whole new perception of well being started to become 'rediscovered' in the west. People were looking for clean, pure and sustainable, health products. People were eager to learn about health food, raw food and healing with plant-based nutrition. Based on this, alongside Jenni's passion to share what she had discovered in the East, the company grew fast.

Coconut Magic is committed to bringing you the highest quality coconut products, backed by sustainable, fairly traded production, and well being education.
