When on the go or traveling, trying to find a healthy snack or meal can be quite a challenge.
I am personally an ingredients Nazi. I don’t like numbers, food additives, or anything remotely altered or unnatural to appear on any label of any food or product I choose to eat.
When working at trade shows and events our days can be very long and require lots of energy. Sometimes we don’t have a break to eat until the late evening, Sometimes we just can’t find a decent meal or snack throughout the day – one with some good wholefood and raw food ingredients. That’s when I said to my husband, “Let’s do our own raw food bars!”. I thought we could include our beautiful Coconut Magic coconut oil to make them super healthy and other raw superfood ingredients to make them super nutritious.
As the idea emerged I was also reading the book ‘Thrive’ by Brendan Brazier. Brendan is a world champion vegan athlete. He talks about the body’s requirements for nutrition and energy from a professional athlete’s point of view. He says that dates, nuts and coconut are a great combination as a source of fuel for the body. These ingredients are also an effective recovery food for when your body is in-between exercise and burning energy.
It was this research, around simple and effective wholefood ingredients, that formed the basis of our raw ‘energy’ bars.
